அசோகர் | Ashoka | 1

"அசோகர் குளம் வெட்டினார்! மரம் நட்டார்" இதை சின்ன வயதில் இருந்தே பாடத்தில் புகுத்தினார்கள். இதுவரை ஏன் குளங்கள் வெட்டினார்? ஏன் அசோகர் மரம் நட்டார்? எங்கு நட்டார்? என்ற கேள்விகளை நாம் சிறுவயதிலேயே கேட்டு இருக்க வேண்டும்.

1) ஏன் அசோகர் குளங்கள் வெட்டினார்?
வேளாண்மைக்கு.

2) வேளாண்மை யார் நன்மைக்காக செய்யப்பட்டது?
கோவில் நிலங்களுக்கு கீழே மக்களை பண்ணை அடிமைகளாக வைத்து வேளாண்மை செய்து வியாபரத்திற்கு வாங்கி சென்ற வணிகர்கள்.

3) அசோகர் எங்கு மரம் நட்டார்?
சாலை ஓரத்தில்.

4) ஏன் சாலை ஓரத்தில் மரம் நட்டார் ?
சாலை என்பது உங்கள் ஊர் சாலைகள் இல்லை வணிகச்சாலைகள். வணிகச்சாலையில் யார் செல்வார்கள் வணிகர்கள். இப்போது புரிகிறதா வணிகர்களுக்காக தான் அந்த மரங்கள் என்று.

இது தான் பெளத்த அறம். முன்பில் இருந்து இப்போதுவரை அனைத்தையும் முடிவு செய்வது வணிகர்களே!

இப்போது ஒரு கேள்வி. புத்தரின் இன்றொரு பெயரான இந்திரன் என்ற பெயர் ஒரு நெல் வேளாண்மையை தோற்றுவித்ததாக சொல்லப்படுகிறதே? இதற்குள் இருக்கும் தொடர்புகள் உங்களுக்கு புரிகிறதா?

தயவு செய்து வீண் பெருமை பேசி வீழ்ந்து போகாதீர்கள். வணிகம் தான் அனைத்தையும் தீர்மானிக்கும், பெருமைகள் அல்ல!

Since our childhood, we were taught that Emperor Ashoka planted (banyan) trees and dug ponds. But we should have asked questions such as why did he dug those ponds? Why planted the trees? Where he did so?

1) Why Ashoka dug ponds?
For agriculture.

2) Agriculture was made for whose benefit?
Traders, who brought the people as slaves and made them cultivate the lands which belongs to the temples.

3) Where did he planted the trees?
Along the roads.

4) Why planted trees along the roads?
These are not the normal roads of your villages. These are trade routes. Traders are the group which will travel on this route. Now we could understand that those trees are planted for the traders.

This is the Buddhist Dhamma. From then till now, eveything is decided by the traders!

Now, let us ask a question. The another name given to Buddha, Indra, is said to be the one who invented agriculture. Can you understand the link between these?

Please don't destroy yourselves by your braggadocio. Trading will determine everything, not your prides!
