சாமி | Sami

இரவு பத்து மணி முதல் இரண்டு மணிவரை உள்ள காலம் "யாமம்" என்று தூய தமிழில் அழைக்கப்படும். இதுவே பேச்சு வழக்கில் "சாமம்" என்று மாறியது. நடுச்சாமம் என்றால் சரியாக இரவு பனிரெண்டு மணி என்று பொருள்.

ஒரு மனிதன் இறந்த பிறகு அவனின் பூத உடல் மட்டும் தான் மண்ணோடு மண்ணாக மக்கிப்போகிறது. அவன் நினைவலைகள் இந்த உலகை விட்டு வேறு எங்கும் போகாது.

அவன் வாழ்ந்த இடங்களை சுற்றி சுற்றி வரும். இந்த நினைவலைகளை உணரும் ஆற்றல் இயற்கையாகவே காகங்களுக்கும் நாய்களுக்கும் உள்ளன.

நடுச்சாமத்தில் நமது முன்னோர்களின் நினைவலைகள் உச்சத்தில் இருக்கும். சாமத்தில் வருவது தான் "சாமி". சக்திவாய்ந்த இந்த நினைவலைகள் இறந்தகாலம், நிகழ்காலம் மற்றும் எதிர்காலத்தை நன்கு அறிந்தவையாகும். முக்காலத்தையும் அறிந்து உணர்ந்தது தான் சாமி.

இந்த நினைவலைகள் ஒரு மனிதன் உறங்கும் பொழுது அவன் மூளைக்குள் இறங்கினால் அதற்குப் பெயர் "கனவு". உடலுக்குள் இறங்கி குறி சொன்னால் அதற்குப் பெயர் "சாமியாடுதல்".

நமது முன்னோர்கள் நமக்கு என்றும் நன்மை செய்யவே நினைப்பார்கள். அதனால் தான் அவர்களது நினைவலைகள் நம் கனவில் வந்து எதிர்காலத்தில் நடக்கவிருக்கும் ஆபத்துக்களைப் பற்றி நமக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்கின்றன.

கொங்கு மண்டலத்தில் வாழும் பெற்றோர்கள் இன்றும் தங்களின் குழந்தைகளை சாமி என்று அழைக்கும் வழக்கம் உள்ளது. அதாவது தங்கள் முன்னோர்கள் தான் தங்களுக்குக் குழந்தையாகப் பிறந்துள்ளனர் என்ற நம்பிக்கையின் வெளிப்பாடு தான் இது.

பாட்டன் -> பேரன், பாட்டி -> பேத்தி என 1, 3, 5, 7 என்ற ஒற்றைப் படையில் நம் மரபுகள் கடத்தப்பட்டுக்கொண்டே இருக்கும்.

மறைநிலவு நாளன்று நம் முன்னோர்களுக்கு அவர்கள் விரும்பி உண்ட உணவுகளைச் சமைத்து நாம் படைக்கிறோம். அதிலும் குறிப்பாக ஐப்பசி, ஆடி, புரட்டாசி மற்றும் தை மாத மறைநிலவு நாட்கள் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தவை.

பெரும்பாலும் அசைவ உணவுகளைத்தான் ஒருகாலத்தில் நம் மக்கள் படைத்தார்கள். ஆனால் இன்று சைவ உணவுகளை மட்டும் படைக்குமாறு மாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

நம் வீட்டில் பெரியவர்கள் இறந்து விட்டால் 1, 3, 5, 7 என்ற ஒற்றைப் படை நாட்களில் தான் நாம் படையல் வைக்கிறோம்.

நல்லெண்ணத்தோடு இறந்தவர்களின் நினைவலைகள் அதே நல்லெண்ணத்தோடு நம்மைக் காக்கும்.

போரில் இறந்த மாவீர்களின் நடுகற்கள் இருந்த இடங்கள் தான் இன்று ஊர்களின் காவல் தெய்வங்களாக வழிபடப்படுகின்றன.

இவ்விடங்களில் தவறாமல் ஒரு சூலமும் வேலும் இடம்பெறும். சூலம் எதற்காகவென்றால் நடுகல்லிருக்கும் இடத்தில் சேவல்/கிடாய் போன்ற மிருகங்களை பலியிட வேண்டும் என்று ஆண்களுக்கு நினைவுபடுத்த வைக்கப்பட்ட சின்னமாகும்.

சேவலைக் குத்தி பலியிடுவதற்குத்தான் வேல். அவ்வேலின் கூர்மையான தலைப் பகுதியின் கீழ் ஒரு சதுர வடிவப் பட்டை இருக்கும். அதன் வேலை சேவலைக் கீழே விழாமல் தாங்கிக்கொள்வதாகும்.

இரவு பனிரெண்டு மணிக்குத்தான் காவல் தெய்வங்கள் வேட்டைக்கு கிளம்பும். அவைகள் இரத்த உணவுகளை மட்டுமே உண்ணும் என்பதால் நம் மக்கள் பொதுவாகவே இரவு நடுச்சாமத்தில் வெளியே உலாவ மாட்டார்கள்.

சென்ற நூற்றாண்டு வரை நமது கிராமங்களில் மிகத் துல்லியமாக நமது தமிழர் சமயம் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. ஆனால் இன்றோ அழிவின் விளிம்பில் இருக்கிறது.

மேற்சொன்ன வழிபாட்டு முறைகளில் பார்ப்பானுக்கு வேலையே இல்லை. ஆனால் இன்று ஒரு கல்லுக்கு பாலை ஊற்றி அதை வணக்கும் முட்டாள்களாக பார்ப்பனீயம் நம்மை மாற்றியுள்ளது.

தமிழ் மக்கள் மதவாதிகளால் துண்டாடப்பட்டு அடிமுட்டாள்களாய் மாற்றப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கண்டு வேதனையுடன் இப்பதிவை எழுதுகிறோம். மேலே எழுதியது அனைத்தும் கிராமத்தில் மக்களோடு மக்களாக வாழ்ந்து சேகரித்த வழிபாட்டு முறைகளாகும்.

பி.கு : ஜைனம் (அருகம்)/சமணம், பௌத்தம், சைவம், வைணவம், சாய்பாபா மதம் போன்ற அனைத்து தண்டக் கருமாந்திரங்களும் தமிழக கிராம மக்களின் வழிபாட்டு முறைகளை அழித்தொழிக்க வந்த வந்தேறிகள் தான்.

The night time between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. is called "Yamam" in pure Tamil. Colloquially, it is called as "Samam" and "Nadusamam" is exactly 12 a.m. or midnight.

After the death of a man, only the physical body will decay. Their memory wave will never leave this Earth.

It will always be around the place he lived in. Crows and dogs naturally have the ability to sense the memory waves.

The vibrant memory waves will be at its' peak at the midnight (nadusamam). "Sami" is what comes during the "samam". These powerful memory waves knew past, present and future very well and that's why we called it Sami.

Our ancestors will always thinking of doing good things for us. That's why sometimes their memory waves come into our mind during sleep and warn us about the dangers in the future.

Parents in Kongunadu still have the practice of calling their children as sami. This is the expression of belief that their ancestors were born to them as their children.

If the memory waves get into one's mind during sleep, we call it as dream. If it get into one's body, changed him to trance state and give oracular responses, we call it as "Samiyaduthal" (the act of someone when he/she is under possession of a deity).

Our traditions will be passed down in the odd number system (1, 3, 5, 7) as follows : grandfather > grandson, grandmother > granddaughter

During new moon, we offered the food for our ancestors which they liked to eat. In particular, new moons of Aippasi, Adi, Purattasi and Tai are the significance days.

Generally, our people only offered non-vegetarian foods in the past. But today, they were brainwashed to offer only vegetarian foods.

If the elders passed away in our house, we would offer food for them on the odd days (1, 3, 5, 7).

Those who died with good intentions, will always guard us with that good intentions.

Today, the places where the martyrs of war were buried are now worshiped as the Tutelary Deities.

These places usually will have a "soolam" (trident) and a "vel" (spear). The soolam is placed there as symbol of reminding the men to give sacrificial offering of goats, rooster etc in the place where hero stone is.

The vel is placed there to stab and sacrifice a rooster. There will be a square-shaped bar below the sharp piece of vel. The bar will prevent the rooster from falling down when stabbed on the vel.

The Tutelary Deities will go out hunting during the midnight time. Our people usually won't wander around during that time because the deities will only look for blood meals.

The ancestor worship had been practiced very accurately in our villages until the last century. But today it is on the brink of extinction.

There's no need of Brahmins in the worship method mentioned above. But today Brahmanism made our people as fools to pour milk on a stone and worship it.

We wrote this in distress, seeing our Tamil people are being spited-up and made fools by the religionists. All the points written above are collected from the worship practices of village people.

P.s. : The religions such as Jainism, Buddhism, Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Sai Baba and all such useless religions are the immigrants who came here to demolish Tamil people's ancestor worship practices.
