ஊர்க்காவல் தெய்வங்களானாலும் சரி அல்லது குலத்தைக் காக்கும் குலசாமியானாலும் சரி, “கருப்பு சக்தி” ஒருவரின் மீது வந்திறங்கி குறி சொல்லும் போது வாக்கு கொடுத்தால் அது கொடுத்ததுதான். கொடுத்த வாக்கை அவைகள் மீறுவதில்லை.
அதே போல அது நம்மிடம் எதிர்பார்க்கும் வாக்குறுதியை நம் முன்னோர்கள் எவருமே கொடுக்கத் தவறியதுமில்லை. இது ஒருவகையில் எழுதப்படாத ஒப்பந்தமாகும். ஒரு நாட்டின் பேரரசனால் எழுதப்பட்ட கடுமையான சட்டங்களைக் காட்டிலும் கருப்புகளுக்கும் நம் முன்னோர்களுக்குமான எழுதப்படாத இவ்வொப்பந்தம் மிக வலிமையானதாக கருதப்பட்டது.
பட்டிக்காட்டான், கிராமத்தான், காட்டுப்பயல் என்றெல்லாம் நகரவாசிகளால் விளிக்கப்பட்ட நம் முன்னோர்களிடம் காணப்பட்ட ஒரு சிறப்பான குணம்தான் இந்த “வாக்கு தவறாமை”. கொடுத்த வாக்கை காப்பாற்ற முடியாமல் உயிரை விட்டவர்கள் ஏராளம். இந்த நேர்மைத்தன்மையை அவர்கள் கருப்புகளிடமிருந்தே கற்றனர்.
